The Nurtured Nurturer Podcast

We’ve started this podcast because we’re passionate about inspiring and supporting counsellors, therapists and other helpers or supporters to look after their own wellbeing and thrive in their personal and professional life. The Nurtured Nurturer Podcast is all about counsellors, therapists, and other caring or helping professionals putting themselves first for a change. Beth and Niamh share stories, interviews, self-care strategies, and practical tips with warmth, humour, and a little quirk — supporting you to nurture yourself as well as you nurture others.

We will bring you two podcast episodes a month: one with the two of us or a solo episode on a specific topic, and the second will be an interview with someone wonderfully relevant.

January 2025

Season 1, Episode 6

In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Eleanor Akaho — psychiatrist, personal performance coach and mentor for girls and women — to explore how therapists and other nurturing or creative professionals can begin to design a life that truly fits them.

We talk about where to start when it comes to life design, how this work is possible whether you’re self-employed or in a paid role, and how to navigate some of the common obstacles that can get in the way. We also explore the benefits of mindfully designing your life — and why it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming, risky, or only about making big, dramatic changes.

A gentle, encouraging conversation about creating a life that feels more intentional, spacious and aligned.

Season 1, Episode 4

In this episode of The Nurtured Nurturer, we’re diving into seasonal self-care and what it really means for those of us who spend our lives caring for others.

We explore how to navigate the endless seasonal to-do lists, how easy it can be for helping professionals to push through and “hold it all together”… and why it’s so important not to. We talk about boundaries, letting go, and reclaiming the natural rhythms and cycles that modern life teaches us to ignore.

A gentle, grounding conversation for anyone who nurtures, holds, or supports others — especially as the seasons shift.
