The Nurtured Counsellor Concept: A New Kind of CPD for Therapists Who Want to Tend to Themselves

In the heart of our work as counsellors, we hold so much. Other people’s stories, hopes, traumas, and fears, and alongside that, our own. But how often do we truly pause to tend to ourselves?

The Nurtured Counsellor Concept was born from a growing need for something deeper to nourish counsellors and therapists. It’s for those of us who want or need something holistic and grounded, whilst also exploring some of the reasons why self-care can be difficult so that we can re-write the narrative.

This workshop is the first instalment of a wider programme that’s been slowly steeping here at Counsellors Therapy Pot, and it’s nearly ready to pour.

☕ What is The Nurtured Counsellor Concept?

The Nurtured Counsellor Concept is an online, self-paced CPD workshop designed for therapists who want to look after themselves as intentionally as they care for others. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or just starting out, it offers a refreshing, nourishing framework for personal and professional wellbeing.

At its heart is the belief that caring for ourselves is not a luxury or an afterthought: it’s foundational.

🌱 Inside the Workshop: What You’ll Explore

The workshop introduces The Nine Cornerstones of Counsellor Wellbeing, a framework to help you reflect on what’s working in your professional and personal life (and the space in between), what needs tending, and how you can create supportive rhythms that sustain you.

 You’ll explore themes such as:

  • Routines, Rituals and Boundaries: building protective structures that feel personal and nourishing

  • Psychoeducation For Counsellors: offering yourself the same insight you extend to clients

  • Creativity And Spirituality: reawakening sources of soulfulness and expression

  • Financial Empowerment: addressing money matters with clarity and compassion

  • The Mind-Body Connection: tending to the nervous system with understanding

This isn’t about rigid strategies or one-size-fits-all solutions. It’s about inviting you into a more intuitive, spacious, and personally relevant approach to care.

🎨 A Different Kind of CPD

Understandably, most CPD offerings in the therapy world focus on client interventions, theoretical models, or risk reduction. Whilst this CPD is absolutely necessary, this workshop flips the lens, placing you, the practitioner, front and centre.

You can expect:

  • Around 4–5 hours of meaningful CPD (depending on how many reflections you choose to do and how long you take to do the creative exercise)

  • Four themed modules filled with journaling prompts, creative exercises and compassionate insights

  • A companion guide to The Nurtured Counsellor Concept, that you can refer to in the future to non-judgementally check your progress

  • Holistic and compassionate enquiry

  • Optional community space, because connection matters too

It’s been created with care, from a place of lived experience, and it holds space for both the complexity and beauty of being a therapist in today’s world.

📆 When and How to Join

We’re aiming to open pre-orders in early July, with full access by the end of July.

Those who pre-order will be invited into a reflective inner circle: a reflection space to explore some of the themes together and help shape how the programme grows. This is completely optional, but it’s a chance to be part of something rooted in co-creation and community.

If you’re already on the Counsellors Therapy Pot mailing list, you’ll be the first to know when pre-orders open. (And if not, you can sign up here to stay in the loop.)

💌 Final Thoughts

The Nurtured Counsellor Programme isn’t just a workshop — it’s an offering from one therapist to another. A reminder that you matter, that your wellbeing is worthy of care, and that there is space for slowness, reflection, and kindness in this work.

Whether you’ve been feeling a little frayed at the edges or simply curious about how to deepen your own self-nurture, we’d love to welcome you in.
